Lotscher Cuckoo Clocks - The Authentic Swiss Innovations

Lotscher cuckoo clocks carry with them the honor as the remaining genuine Swiss timepieces existing today. These first-class clocks are meticulously handmade and hand carved by the best skilled artisans of the Brienz region. That’s why Lotscher cuckoo clocks are rich in wonderful images of the authentic Swiss life that both the young and old enjoy so much.

Almost everyone knows that cuckoo clocks were given birth in the Black Forest region of Germany. That’s a great reason why most people really aspire to own a genuine Black Forest cuckoo clock for their homes. But Swiss made timepieces could also well compete with these cuckoo clocks. Lotscher cuckoo clocks have proven that they could still manage to rise above the rest through their elaborate and picturesque details that are truly found only in Switzerland.

Lotscher makes all of their cuckoo clocks from two facilities that are separately located in Switzerland. Each of these facilities is given special tasks to make it possible to produce high quality products. Their Brienz operational facility is responsible for all the wood works, like hand carving the frames and dancing figurines. All of these are carefully assembled and tested in their facility found at Fallanden, which is in Zurich.

To ensure its high quality, Lotscher hires only the best artisans in the Brienz region – the home of the most skilled wood carvers in Switzerland. And they only use linden wood materials that are properly dried (around three long years) and stored, so that these will not snap in dry or moist air. With the wood frames alone, they diligently put in three months of hard work just to achieve the quality they want to achieve. After that, the cuckoo clocks are placed for final evaluation and tuning for at least three days before leaving their manufacturing facility.

All of their cuckoo clocks are offered in the form of Swiss chalets, where the two popular types are the Brienzer and Emmenthaler. These clocks could either play with or without music. The musical ones have two melodies that are separately played during the half hour and full hour. Also, their musical clocks are built with a night shut-off feature for the convenience of their customers.

These cuckoo clocks also operate by the 1-Day or 8-Day clock movements, which are surprisingly made in Germany. This is because there are currently no factories in Switzerland that manufacture clock movement mechanisms. Lotscher also offer cuckoo clocks that run using the Quartz movement mechanism.

The prices of these clocks are quite affordable compared to the Black Forest cuckoo clocks. Depending on the model you choose, these could cost roughly from $223.90 to $2,388 plus.

Despite the presence of other cuckoo clock products, Lotscher cuckoo clocks have successfully distinguished themselves as the only authentic Swiss timepieces in the present day.
